How Do I Know If I Have A Weak Pelvic Floor?
If I had a £1 for every woman that said the following statements to me I’d be mortgage free by now …
“I can’t run any more, I pee myself if I do”
”I daren’t go on the trampoline with the children with out a wee first”
”I have to plan my days out around toilet stops”
”As soon as I pick up my keys I’m busting for a wee!”
”I get up several times a night for a wee”
”I can’t make it through an exercise class with out going to the toilet anymore”
”I rely on pads most days”
”I struggle with stress incontinence before my period”
”Since menopause things aren’t what they were”
”I don’t feel as tight during sex anymore”
”I can’t keep in a fart”
”I do Pelvic Floor exercises but I’m not seeing much improvement”
Can you relate to any of these statements? Perhaps you’ve found yourself saying or experiencing something similar.
If so it’s likely your Pelvic Floor could do with some TLC and the right exercises at that. Contrary to popular belief a few squeezes sat in a traffic jam won’t be very effective.
What are indicators of Pelvic Floor weakness?
Leaking urine when you sneeze, laugh, cough, pick something heavy up or stand up
You don’t quite make it to the loo in time
Not making it through an exercise class without needing a wee
Feeling a heaviness or bulge in the vagina during of after exercise could indicate Prolapse which can be caused by tightness or weakness in the Pelvic Floor
Trouble keeping in a tampon or Menstrual Cup
Need a week or leak soon after going to the toilet
Trouble controlling wind and bowel movements
The Pelvic floor is made up from approximately 23 muscles rather than one ‘hammock’ of muscle.
Mistakenly people think that a Pelvic Floor contraction is a pulling up but because there are so many muscles involved including the muscles that control the Rectum its important to learn how to make a correct Pelvic Floor contraction.
Furthermore depending on the type of Pelvic Floor condition you have you’ll benefit from different types of exercises and in different positions to make sure your strengthening all areas of the pelvic bowl for optimum results.
It has a big job to do so its important it’s functioning well for health as well as your confidence.
If you need more help and wish to give your Pelvic Floor some TLC I have a program for ladies just like yourself.
Statistically 1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men have some kind of Pelvic Floor Dysfunction so your not alone.
Its all online so you can do it anywhere in the world. If you cant join the live classes they’re recorded and saved in the course’s private community Facebook group so you can access them anytime.
Next course starts November 2nd 2020.
Big Love
