Podcast Where Can I find help with mental health?
So, last week I lost my podcast interviewee virginity hehe
It’s been released today and I have to say I’m bricking it a bit! … actually A LOT!
I have started to talk about a few things I hadn’t before publicly and there’s also something extra venerable about being interviewed and having your voice on record forever more.
It is a two part series as there was a lot Carl wanted to ask me.
Carl is one of the owners of HKA (Hastings Kickboxing Academy) where my daughter goes.
Shes 11 and has struggled with her confidence in many ways as well as anxiety. Kickboxing has been an awesome outlet for her in so many ways. I recommend it! They do sessions for adults and children. Links below :)
This year Carl stared a podcast called Kickstart Your Confidence which I recommend listing to. He interviews lots of people on their life stories and how they got to where they are after over coming a lot, so there’s many stories and great insights that you may find useful.
This the link to Part one. Part 2 will be recorded very soon and cover how I overcame my mental health challenges and became a Somatic Sex Coach.
As promised at the end I said I’d put a list of resources together to help if you need any support with mental health.
Even now after overcoming so much, and so I can best serve my clients, I have regular counseling and holistic treatments so I keep growing and stay well.
There’s no shame in needing help or support so please reach out to someone. This is a list of some support groups, other websites with recommendations and some recommendations that would be private rather than NHS funded.
RESOURCES
Charities and support groups
The Samaritans - They have a phone helpline where you can speak to someone with no judgment no matter how large or small the problem. Theres a phone number on this page.
Mind - This link is for teenagers but the whole website is for anyone with any mental health conditions
The Survivors Trust - An organisation to help you find support in your area for rape and sexual violence (for men, women and children)
NHS
NHS - This page has several links to resources that may be helpful
Private resources (not NHS or charity funded)
TRE - Trauma release exercises are a one of the great ways to help the physical body. When we have experienced trauma of any kind it will be held in the body and needs processing. This is the main website but I can make recommendations for practitioners in my local area (Sandhurst Kent and near by)
Somatic Sexology / Somatic Sex Coaching - You can contact me for this via my contacts page
Reiki - You can also reach out to me for this. There’s more on my website here about Reiki. Its amazing therapy for anxiety, depression and chronic pain conditions.
To reiterate what I said at the end of the interview… If your struggling please speak to someone. Your GP, a friend or family member. It can feel like the scariest thing in the world so say but its the start to things getting better.
If verbalizing things is too much perhaps try writing things down to share with someone.
My inbox is always open as are my therapy sessions. There are limits to things I am able to help with but I am always happy to chat and help you. If I feel you need referring on if something is out of my remit I can make some recommendations for you based on your personal needs.
It’s also worth remembering your GP is also able to help you and is there to support you with with mental health as well as physical.
If you have’t listened to the podcast yet and are intrigued to here my story you can listen to part 1 here at Kick Start Your Confidence with Carl Dene from HKA.
I hope this is helpful!
Much Love
Nik xx
